Food Lovin'
As the first few days of the semester have passed, I'm already beginning to feel those semester blues. Lot's of information, homework, tears, and money spent. With stress, obviously, comes stress eating. Stress eating can be pretty hard to avoid, especially with all of the unhealthy options in the cafeterias and markets. One thing that has really helped me stay on track with being healthy is meal prepping the night, or even two nights, before.
While perusing the internet, I came across this yummy little recipe for Maple French Toast Overnight Oats (original post can be found here). The good thing about overnight oats is that they hardly require any meal prep, and you can just grab them and go in the morning.
Ingredients Needed:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 banana
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
- flax of chia seeds
- dark chocolate (optional)
- coconut (optional)
Just throw everything together in whatever container you have (mason jars are super cute!) and put it in the fridge overnight.
Enjoy.

Mitten Appreciation
If you ask high school kids from my hometown if they like the state of Michigan, most would say no, and that they cannot wait to move away. I used to be the same way. But after moving out of state for school (to Ohio), it really makes you appreciate all the wonderful things about the Mitten State.
Although I haven't explored much of the beautiful state that is Ohio, I can't help but to compare to what is arguably the best state in the United States. From exploring the big, little city of Grand Rapids, to walking down the vast beaches of Lake Michigan. The state offers so much for the adventurers soul. Hiking and sightseeing is one of the best things to do here. I look back and remember my weekend adventures I had this summer. One week I was in Harbor Springs kayaking down the Sturgeon River, and the next I was in the Upper Peninsula hiking Tahquamenon Falls. There is just so many memories to be made here.
As I prepare to continue my journey as a fashion student, I can't help think how much I'm going to miss this place. Hopefully I can make my home away from home just as special.

In the Beginning
As I start my second year of college, I feel like I need somewhere to share my experiences and whatever advice I might have.
I've been wanting to start a blog for a very long time, but every time I try to, I always overthink it. I think to myself, "okay, so I have to include this and this and this..." I just end up overwhelming myself with all of these ideas. Finally, when a close friend of mine decided she was going to delve into this community I thought, "what am I thinking!? I don't need to include all of this nonsense! Just be me!" And I was convinced... determined... I needed to start a blog!
Here I plan to share with you my experiences of being a fashion design student and the wonderful world of studying in a new environment. I might also pop in some personal advice or fashion tips of my own. So welcome to my little world.
